Natural Maternity Photography

One thing I wish I’d done when I was pregnant was to get professional maternity photographs taken of my bump. I know it’s not the same for a lot of women, but I absolutely LOVED being pregnant. Watching my body change with new life growing inside of me was a really awe-inspiring time. And whilst I only have a few snapshots, I will treasure them forever. Which is one of the reasons why I love photographing women when they are pregnant, because I know they will have a wonderful reminder of how they looked and to really celebrate their bodies and the amazing things they can do. And I also think the pictures look lovely hanging on the wall in the new baby’s room, for them to look at as they are growing up, and for you to share that awe and wonder – “look, that’s you in Mummy’s tummy!”.

This recent shoot with Rachel was a lot of fun. It was a warm October day so we were able to spend some time exploring the garden and the rustic summer house, which created a perfect backdrop. Indoors, the light in the rooms was fantastic. I particularly like the shots in the room to be the baby’s nursery with Rachel at the window. For me, the fact that the nursery was in the early stages of being decorated, reflected the stage of Rachel’s pregnancy – in preparation for the new arrival, not quite there yet, not knowing whether it was a boy or a girl… the anticipation!

Huge congratulations Rachel on the arrival of your gorgeous little man x
